What is Investigative Dermatology?<\/h1>\n

Investigative dermatology is the branch of medical research dedicated to understanding the biology, function, and diseases of the skin. It encompasses basic, translational, and clinical science aimed at uncovering the molecular, genetic, and immunologic mechanisms that contribute to skin health and disease.<\/p>\n

By bridging bench science with clinical practice, investigative dermatology drives innovations in treatment, prevention, and diagnostics\u2014extending its impact well beyond dermatology into broader areas of human health.<\/p>\n

As the only U.S.-based society dedicated to this discipline, the Society for Investigative Dermatology provides a home for researchers and clinician-scientists who are committed to advancing knowledge through rigorous research and multidisciplinary collaboration.<\/p>\n

Investigative dermatologists conduct studies that span topics such as inflammatory skin disorders, skin cancer biology, wound healing, microbiome research, genetics, regenerative medicine, and more.<\/p>\n
