Submissions
All abstracts must be submitted online through the abstract submission system by the posted deadline to be considered for acceptance. No fax copies, disk or e-mail submissions will be accepted.
You can enter your abstract, save it, and return for edits or updates any time prior to the deadline. The Complete Payment button must be clicked before the deadline. Changes to abstract titles or abstract text, as well as additions or deletions of author names, will not be permitted after submission. Proofread your abstract to identify and correct any errors before submission.
Only the individual listed as the official contact of the submission has authority to withdraw it or revise content. If an abstract must be withdrawn after submission, the request must be received no later than April 1. To withdraw your abstract, email abstracts@sidnet.org. Include your name, abstract control ID# (7-digits) and abstract title.
Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present their work if the abstract is accepted.
Rules and Regulations
The material must not have been published prior to submission of the abstract or presented at any conference prior to the date of presentation at the Annual Meeting. Simultaneous submission of the same abstract to other meetings is prohibited. Please note that recognized preprint servers (e.g. arXiv, bioRxiv) do NOT constitute prior publication.
Only one abstract per presenting author may be submitted; though a single person may be a non-presenting co-author of any number of abstracts.
If there is a real or perceived conflict of interest pertaining to your abstract or presentation, especially one of personal or departmental financial benefit, please provide this information in your submission.
There is a limit of 2,300 characters for the text of your abstract submission (title, authors, institutions, abstract body and all spaces will be counted).
Text generated by artificial/augmented intelligence (AI) may not be included in the abstract. Maching learning (ML) or AI tools are not eligible for authorship and may not be listed as an author. Research that used ML/AI tools for data acquisition or analysis is eligible for submission.
The abstract should address scientific questions, report novel clinical observations that provide mechanistic insight, and/or contain primary scientific data. Abstracts must also include results. It is not acceptable to state, “Results will be discussed… ” or “Data will be presented.” Clinical case reports/series must include novel and relevant mechanistic insights and/or describe innovative therapeutic approaches; literatures reviews must include original data or novel perspectives. Note: Abstracts deemed to be of low scientific impact, lacking novelty, or outside scope of the SID will not be accepted. See Review Process.
Publication Fees
The publication/processing fee is $50 US and must be paid via the internet at the time of submission.
Publication of Abstracts
All accepted abstracts will be published in the August Supplement issue of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology (JID). The abstracts will be made available as an unofficial document as part of the meeting via links on the SID website approximately early May.
Authors retain copyright in their abstracts and grant the Society for Investigative Dermatology an exclusive license to publish their abstract in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
Review Process
After the abstract submission deadline, each abstract will be reviewed by two independent reviewers, who are blinded to the abstract authors, by abstract category. The SID Committee on Scientific Programs will also review submitted abstracts.
The evaluation and scoring of the abstract will be made according to multiple criteria, including:
- What is interesting, informative, novel, or important about the content?
- Are the methods valid, the results relevant, and the conclusions justified by the data?
- Is the data presented with clarity and with appropriate structure?
- Selection of abstracts for meeting presentation (oral or poster) will be based on abstract scores. Abstracts not abiding by the above rules and regulations or those receiving exceptionally low priority scores may be rejected.
Notification of the status of abstracts will be sent electronically to the official contact and presenting author the week of February 16-20, 2026.
Travel Grants
Travel Grants will be awarded to investigators to participate in the SID Annual Meeting to present their scientific work. Awards will be made to Under-represented Minorities (URM’s), those from developing countries, and merit-based.
Step 3 of the abstract submission process is the venue to apply for consideration.
Submit your completed application by the abstract submission deadline.
All abstracts (if accepted) are to also be presented as posters.
Presentation
All accepted abstracts will be selected for presentation during one of four session types: Plenary (up to 12 minutes oral presentation), Concurrent Mini-Symposium (up to 10 minutes oral presentation), e-Poster Talk (up to 5 minutes oral presentation), and Poster Only.
All presenters (regardless of presentation status) will also be required to participate in their assigned Poster Session on either the Thursday or Friday of the meeting. This information will be available when abstract status notifications are posted in late February.
Late-Breaking Abstracts
Late-breaking abstracts that present “unpublished high-impact research results that were not available by the regular abstract submission deadline and merit special consideration” (e.g. the latest ground-breaking advances or results; novel and practice-changing clinical trials) will be prioritized for acceptance. Note: The call for late-breaking abstracts is not an extension of the regular submission deadline. Abstracts not accepted in the main abstract review submission are not eligible to be re-submitted to the late-breaking category.
Late-breaking abstract authors will be asked to provide the following explanations to justify the submission:
- Why this abstract could not have been submitted for the regular deadline (300-character limit)
- Why the findings are of high scientific impact, especially newsworthy and deserving of consideration. (300-character limit)
Submissions made during this time period will be considered for Poster Only and Oral session presentations, including Concurrent Mini-symposia and Select ePoster Talks.
